Then controlling himself, he asks Vishnu why all of this had to occur. Why had Vishnu become suddenly so bad and cruel? Why allow to partake in swayamvar and why give monkey face? Vishnu replies that it was all due to his pride and ego that he had conquered Kama. Any person who is not modest and says proudly that he has won, will lose his inner self and will be laughed at by his peers.
Vishnu says that all had to occur to put a stop to Narada’s self esteem and self pride. He also tells that everything was all stage-setup for this incident to occur. He shows the actual Sheelnagar in its sheer barrenness. All characters were acting just to bring down Narada’s pride, just to show that he had not actually won over Kama.
Also he wanted Narad to realize that wen pride resides in the mind of a person, even his good looking face turns ugly. When a person is lost in pride and walks with conceit, he forgets that intelligent people are laughing at him. A sage's pride ruins his intelligence and penance. And Vishnu had to save Narad. He also tells about Vedavathi’s life and her inevitable marriage to Vishnu.
Narada is overcome by flaws and faults and vows not to be proud or exhibit pride again and asks for forgiveness. But he is concerned now that he has cursed Vishnu. But Vishnu says not to worry, as he does have a job in Manav loka: to put an end to Ravana’s increasing ego and sadism.
