Both Rama and Sugreev express the need of a friend. Rama goes into all possible comparisons for the need of a friend (Sun – ray, life – breath, river – water, etc) He finally comes to the point and tells the story of Sita kidnap. H brings the jewelry and asks if its Sita’s. Rama is convinced. He aks L too, who says sorry, he cannot identify, as hasn’t seen anything of Sita other than her feet and yes, her feet ornaments are the same as one in Rama’s hands. Rama is much pleased. He is happy, now that Sugreev is his true friend. So, he extends his friendship by saying “Your friends are my friends and your enemies are my enemies.”
Sugreev says that his only enemy is his brother Vaali, who kicked Sugreev out of his kingdom when he was the king. All here call Sugreev as maharaj but now he is no longer the one.
Meanwhile, Vaali hears of the 2 visitors to Sugreev whose friendship might destroy Vaali. He sets off to kill them, but his wife gives him a stay-order that since he might burn into ashes once he sets foot on that Kishkindha mountain. So better let them come to you. He agrees and sends sevaks to tell him once they come out of that mountain. Sevak goes.
